DAPHNE P. LEI Associate Professor in Drama, University of California, Irvine, USA. She is one of the authoritative figures in the field of Chinese opera in the context of transnationalism and interculturalism. Lei is also the author Operatic China: Staging Chinese Identity across the Pacific (Palgrave Macmillan, 2006).
