About the Author


Erwin Chemerinsky is the Dean and Jesse H. Choper Distinguished Professor of Law, University of California, Berkeley School of Law. He is the author of 14 other books, including leading casebooks and treatises on constitutional law, criminal procedure, and federal courts, and most recently of Presumed Guilty: How the Supreme Court Empowered the Police and Subverted Civil Rights (2021). He frequently argues appellate cases, including in the United States Supreme Court. In January 2021, he was chosen to be President-Elect of the Association of American Law Schools.
