This paper provides detailed overview of wireless networks and explained some of the IEEE 802 specifications with their strengths and weaknesses. Major wireless transmission technologies were discussed vis- -vis their frequency and speed. The paper discussed the various transmission media and the type of devices available in wireless network. This is expected to provide general overview of wireless network technology; readers can consult the referenced books for detailed information regarding this topic.
