Pride and Prejudice is a romance novel written by the English author, Jane Austen between 1797 and 1813, when it was published for the first time. It reflects the culture and values of the time and place in which it was written. It is a story about an intelligent young woman and a wealthy young man. At first she is offended by his pride. They eventually see the good in each other and fall in love. If there is a moral to the story, it would be that one should not be quick to judge someone's character on the basis of superficial appearances.

Jane Austen, an English novelist was born December 16, 1775 and died July 18, 1817. Her parents, George and Cassandra Austen were well respected in their community. Her father was an Anglican minister who learning and creativity in his children. She published four novels during her lifetime. Another two were published posthumously.
