Description
Legal Education
Legal education paves the way for legal practice. Since the middle Ages, universities have offered legal education. However, since university-based law schools started in the 18th and 19th centuries, legal education has had to find a way to reconcile its goal of teaching law as one of the academic disciplines with its goal of preparing people to join a profession. The majority of law schools have attempted to strike a balance between being merely a school of trades and a haven for pure theory. Unfortunately, it is sometimes criticized that these efforts produce a type of education that is neither as rigorously theoretical as a true academic discipline should be nor sufficiently practical to be truly useful in resolving day-to-day legal issues.
